Overview
In this role you will join the Head and Neck Directorate to lead a service in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a focus on skin cancer management.
You will work across University Hospital of Wales and University Dental Hospital, steering patient care and contributing to regional trauma and cancer pathways.
You will supervise junior staff and participate in the on-call trauma rota, supporting training and clinical governance.
The post supports Wales-wide consultant-level practice within a teaching hospital environment.
You will have the chance to shape skin cancer services while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level OMFS care across designated hospitals, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease
- Supervise and manage junior medical/dental staff; oversee training where appropriate
- Contribute to a 1 in 6 trauma on-call rota and cover colleagues' leave
- Support clinical governance, audits, and continuous service improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop skin cancer management and head & neck oncology services
- Key requirements
- Full Registration with the UK GMC
- On GMC Specialist list in OMFS or within six months of eligibility for inclusion
- ICSFE examination in OMFS or equivalent
- Certificate of Accreditation or CCST eligibility in OMFS
- MRCS or equivalent; membership of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent
- Desirable: ATLS provider certificate or trainer status, GDC registration, Skin cancer Fellowship
- Evidence of work in general OMFS and head and neck oncology; management of skin malignancy
- Ability to perform specialist level OMFS procedures
- Commitment to clinical audit and revalidation
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals; active research interests
- Teaching medical/dental students and junior doctors; involvement in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching
- Effective team working, self-motivated and flexible; strong English communication and IT skills
- Disclosure to the DBS; ability to obtain UK sponsorship if applicable
