Overview

In this ENT Specialty Doctor role at East Kent Hospitals, you support the department’s clinical delivery across two acute sites and supervise trainees. You will assess and manage ENT patients, including cancer cases, while contributing to service performance and team training. The role involves independent patient work, cross-site coordination, and ensuring accurate records. You will engage in education and research activities as part of a broader transformation journey within the trust.

Responsibilities

  • Support GPST2, F1, F2, CT1, CT2 to maintain A&E standards
  • Provide clinical/prescribing support to nurse practitioners in adjacent clinics
  • Elective day-to-day coverage for patients admitted under supervising Consultant
  • Clinically support/review inpatients requiring ENT input at two acute sites
  • Contribute to ENT service delivery and performance
  • Train and support junior staff while managing patients independently
  • Consult, diagnose and develop treatment plans for cancer and general ENT cases
  • Coordinate and communicate with other grades in the department
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and signatures
  • Respond promptly to administrative requests and reviews
  • Manage leave to minimize disruption to patient care

Key requirements

  • GMC Registered
  • MRCS completion
  • Minimum of 12 months ENT experience at middle grade level (including 6 months NHS)
  • Evidence of log book activity demonstrating independent ENT operating
  • Willingness to travel between sites and on-call requirements
  • Effective listener
  • Good communication
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • ENT experience with Head & Neck cancer patients
  • Independent general ENT operating (logbook evidence)
  • Prescribing where appropriate
