Working closely with the Food Service Manager (FSM), you will support the day-to-day delivery of patient meal services, ensuring excellent standards of food quality, hygiene, customer care and patient satisfaction are consistently achieved.

You will lead and support your team by planning, organising, motivating and training staff to deliver a professional, caring and efficient service. The role also involves building positive working relationships with ward-based clinical teams to help meet patients' nutritional needs and improve the overall mealtime experience.

If you are passionate about customer service, team leadership and delivering high standards within a healthcare environment, we would love to hear from you. Previous applicants need not apply.

Main duties of the job:

  • Support the Food Service Manager (FSM) in delivering a professional and patient-focused ward catering service across Frimley Park Hospital.
  • Supervise, motivate and support Ward Hosts to ensure high standards of service, cleanliness and hygiene are maintained at all times.
  • Develop positive working relationships with ward teams to enhance the patient mealtime experience and support patients' nutritional requirements.
  • Promote excellent customer care for patients, relatives and visitors, ensuring privacy, dignity and respect are always maintained.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve service quality and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of menu content, allergens, food intolerances and portion control requirements.
  • Ensure all food is presented and served to a high standard in line with Trust procedures and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor food quality, temperatures and service standards through audits, inspections and customer feedback.
  • Support compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points) procedures, including hygiene and cleanliness checks within areas of responsibility.
  • Respond to and resolve complaints professionally in line with departmental procedures, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Catering and Hotel Services to maintain and improve service delivery.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the Catering Department and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous supervisory experience within catering, hospitality or food service.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is organised, proactive and able to lead a team effectively.
  • Has a strong understanding of food hygiene and customer service standards.
  • Is passionate about delivering an excellent patient experience.
  • Works well under pressure and can manage competing priorities in a busy healthcare environment.
