Overview
In this role you will provide advanced musculoskeletal care as a first point of contact within Primary Care, working with an established FCP team across the NCA MSK service. You will assess, diagnose and manage undifferentiated MSK cases, coordinating with GPs and community/secondary care to ensure timely access to appropriate care. You will contribute to service development, quality improvement and clinical leadership while supporting education within an experienced team.

Responsibilities
- Provide expert MSK assessment, diagnosis and management in Primary Care
- Be the first point of contact for undifferentiated MSK conditions and determine management/referral pathways
- Apply advanced clinical reasoning to independently manage complex cases
- Order and interpret investigations within scope of practice
- Refer to community, secondary care and specialist services as appropriate
- Educate patients on self-management and shared decision-making
- Collaborate with GPs, practice teams, community services and secondary care to optimise outcomes
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and governance
- Participate in clinical supervision, audits, service evaluation and quality improvement
- Provide clinical leadership and act as a specialist MSK resource to Primary Care colleagues and the wider MSK service
Key requirements
- HCPC registration as Physiotherapist
- MSc Advanced Clinical Practice or working towards it; or equivalent advanced practice qualification
- Extensive experience at Band 7 level in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with autonomous decision-making
- Teaching, supervisory and appraisal skills
- Knowledge of data protection, equality and health and safety policies
- Self-motivated with leadership and motivational abilities
- Collaborative working across multidisciplinary teams
- Clinical leadership and influence
- Strong communication and education abilities
- Advanced MSK clinical assessment and autonomous decision-making
- Interpretation of investigations within scope
