Overview
As a Consultant Anaesthetist at Northern Care Alliance, you will provide specialist anaesthesia services at Fairfield General Hospital and contribute to cross-site care across the Trust. You will lead regional anaesthesia for upper and lower limbs and support ENT and other surgical services, shaping perioperative care and patient safety. The role offers exposure to high-volume elective hubs and opportunities to influence clinical governance and education within a large NHS system.

Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist anaesthesia care across sites within the NCA, including elective and emergency settings
- Perform upper and lower limb regional anaesthesia and manage ENT anaesthesia cases
- Contribute to direct clinical care at different Trust sites and participate in governance and education
- Ensure full GMC registration and practice licence, and be on the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to uphold high standards of perioperative care
- Support complex airway management and critical care within the department
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration with a valid licence to practice
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register / CCST or CCT in Anaesthetics (or within 6 months of entitlement)
- MBChB or equivalent training and experience
- Current ALS certified
- Wide experience in anaesthesia and critical care, including resuscitation
- Expertise in upper & lower limb regional anaesthesia
- Good understanding of Clinical Governance
- Desirable: experience in obstetric, neuro anaesthesia, and major trauma
- Written and spoken English communication skills
