Overview
In this role, you will lead proactive and reactive media relations to support donor recruitment and raise awareness of NHSBT’s work. You will craft engaging content, manage media inquiries, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated communications that support national campaigns. You will help tell stories that save lives by promoting blood, plasma and organ donation, while leveraging low-cost PR and strong stakeholder relationships. This is a mission-driven, fast-paced communications role with a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
- Deliver proactive and reactive media relations to secure coverage
- Develop engaging content to promote donor recruitment and showcase NHSBT work
- Handle national and local announcements and ethnic minority media coverage
- Monitor media and manage rebuttals; respond to media inquiries
- Collaborate with marketing, public affairs and internal communications for joined-up plans
- Build influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Utilize free or low-cost PR to reach target audiences and identify new channels
Key requirements
- Degree in marketing/communications or similar; postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience (CPD encouraged)
- IT literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Ability to deliver high-quality communications plans
- Advanced keyboard skills with high accuracy
- Experience in internal communications across multiple channels
- Understanding of donor/patient confidentiality
