Overview
In this role you will join the Microbiology team as a Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Quality Officer to lead quality governance and staff development. You will work to maintain ISO 15189 accreditation and support UKAS activities, ensuring safe, high-quality diagnostic services. You will collaborate with the Senior Specialist BMS team to strengthen the department's quality culture and drive continuous improvement. This position supports patient care at a university trust that emphasises learning, development and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, training and supervision of staff
- Act as Quality Officer for Microbiology
- Maintain and develop quality management systems and accreditation processes
- Support or lead UKAS assessments and implement quality improvements
- Contribute to the department's quality culture and delivery of high-quality diagnostic services
Key requirements
- HCPC registration
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or Fellowship of the IBMS
- Extensive post-registration experience in NHS diagnostic microbiology (5+ years)
- Desirable: IBMS Certificate of Expert Practice in Quality
- Desirable: experience with UKAS assessments and Quality Management Systems
