Job Responsibilities:
- All normal duties and responsibilities associated with a Salaried GP working within primary care as set by the regulatory and standard-setting organisations.
- In accordance with the practice timetable, undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and authorising repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries.
- Provide health promotion and advice, signposting patients to appropriate services to maximise their health and social functioning.
- Be mindful of the need for personalised care and population health, including reducing health inequalities.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting patients.
- Assess the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Consult with patients and develop care plans for health-related illnesses.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using IT systems.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Person Specification:
- Qualifications: A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register; accredited as a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or have 5 years experience as a full-time GP; currently on a performers list and not suspended; Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check; evidence of continued professional development.
- Experience: Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF); clinical governance; primary care prevention and screening services; organised and efficient in record keeping; time management; computer literacy; adaptability to change.
- Skills & Knowledge: Willingness to share and collaborate; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships; ability to work flexibly; willingness to learn new skills; understanding of confidentiality; excellent communicator.
