Overview
In this role you lead the Learning Disability community health team within the directorate, promoting the service and implementing recommendations to improve care. You’ll provide line management and professional supervision, while coordinating day-to-day operations with the service manager and MDT. You will drive governance, staffing reviews, and infection-control initiatives, and strengthen partnerships with patients, carers, and stakeholders. This is a strategic, hands-on position shaping care for people with learning disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the team and manage staffing and governance within resources available
- Promote the service and embed transforming care principles across the LD service
- Support the service manager, deputise as needed, and oversee day-to-day operational management
- Review staffing levels, skill mix, and ensure effective supervision of staff
- Ensure infection control standards and improvements to patient environments
- Engage with patients, carers, and stakeholders to address concerns and strengthen partnerships
- Lead in developing the community health team services and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Key requirements
- RNLD or RMN with significant LD experience
- ENB 998 or equivalent
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Experience in managing staff groups and services (recruitment, supervision, appraisal, development, disciplinary)
- Understanding of national legislation (MHA 1983, HRA 1998, MCA 2005)
- Experience chairing meetings and delivering effective leadership and management
- Ability to organise and prioritise workloads and manage change
- Knowledge of clinical governance and impact of government policy (desirable)
