Overview
In this role you will provide senior medical cover on Phoenix Ward, overseeing care for men in an acute mental health setting. You act as Responsible Clinician, drive high-quality care, and audit medical services to GMC standards. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in governance, patient flow, and liaison with regulators and stakeholders. A clear path for professional development and potential progression to Medical Director under our schemes adds meaningful growth.

Responsibilities
- Lead provision of high-quality care on Phoenix Ward
- Oversee patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team
- Assess referrals and perform mental state examinations
- Conduct ward rounds, reviews, and clinical audits
- Lead risk assessment and clinical governance
- Prepare Mental Health Act tribunal and hearings reports
- Coordinate with Ministry of Justice for transfers and leave approvals
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure regular communications with Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager
- Engage in CPD activities and attend academic meetings
- Participate in on-call rota (telephone)
Key requirements
- Fully GMC registered
- MBBS or equivalent
- Registered on specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
- Strong communicator with ability to assess and treat patients and write medical notes
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and teamwork
- MRCPsych or equivalent (desirable)
