Overview
In this role you will provide clinical leadership and expert psychiatric care within the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) and At-Risk Mental State (ARMS) services across Dorset. You will work with a pan-Dorset multidisciplinary team to deliver recovery-focused care and support service development. The position offers varied duties including assessments, medical reviews, and Mental Health Act work across clinic, community and home settings. This is a newly created post with opportunities to shape and improve the pathway for EIP/ARMS patients.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership within EIP and ARMS services
- Conduct specialist psychiatric assessments and management of complex presentations
- Undertake new patient assessments and medical reviews
- Perform Mental Health Act assessments and attend tribunals
- Discharge planning and collaborative care with community teams and primary care
- Support interface between EIP/ARMS and wider general adult pathway
- Contribute to service development, teaching, research and quality improvement
- Operate in clinic, community and home settings as appropriate
- Participate in county-wide on-call rota and contribute to safeguarding and governance processes
Key requirements
- General Medical Qualification (MBBS) and Licence to Practise
- On Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry or must be within 6 months of CCT
- Section 12(2) approval and Responsible Clinician approval or ability to obtain before starting post
- 3 years core training in psychiatry and NHS experience of at least two years
- Experience at senior/consultant level and leadership potential
- Desirable MRCPsych or equivalent, and additional qualifications or research experience
