Overview
In this role you will provide high-quality, patient-centred GP care across two practice sites, contributing to continuity of care and on-call duties. You will work within a friendly, training-oriented team and have opportunities to engage with Extended Services via the GP Federation for a broader portfolio. The post is 4 sessions per week (Thu + Fri) with fixed days, offering clinical variety and governance responsibilities. You will help shape service delivery and education within the practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide the full range of General Medical Services (GMS) and QOF-aligned care
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients with evidence-based practice
- Participate in on-call duties and scheduled clinical sessions
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with GMC standards
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team for safe, effective care
- Engage in clinical governance activities and service improvement
- Support education and training of trainees and students
- Attend practice meetings and contribute to prioritisation and planning
- Promote health promotion and disease prevention
- Contribute to end-of-life care frameworks and palliative care
- Support demand management and improve service efficiency
- Liaise with external services and community organisations
- Promote NHS initiatives and patient participation in service development
Key requirements
- Medical degree and MRCGP (or equivalent)
- GMC registration and inclusion on GP Register and Performers List
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Valid immunisation status (Hepatitis B)
- Current GP experience with up-to-date appraisal/revalidation
- Competence in childhood surveillance and women's health
- Minimum six months experience in A&E, general medicine, and surgery
- Ability to engage with diverse patients and complex needs
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Desirable: experience developing services, understanding of NHS/private practice integration, knowledge of CQC fundamentals, contracting and performance monitoring
- Effective communication with patients and carers
- Team collaboration within multidisciplinary settings
- Adaptability in a changing clinical environment
- GMS delivery and QOF requirements
- Prescribing (generic where suitable) with rationale for alternatives
- Electronic health records coding (READ, SNOMED)
