The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department are looking to recruit a Hip and Knee Surgeon. The successful applicant will join a department of 14 Orthopaedic Surgeons and will work electively, along with supporting trauma activity.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful candidate will have a special interest in hip and knee surgery and will be expected to provide an elective and trauma service.
- They will be involved in the management of elective and complex hip and knee patients, ward rounds and MDT clinics, as well as a comprehensive Orthopaedic and Trauma service.
- The post will also include duties on the weekday and weekend on-call rota.
- The job will entail ward rounds as well as involvement in teaching junior staff.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- FRCS Orth. entry onto the Specialist Register or a Specialist Registrar within 6 months of the award of their CCST (or recognized equivalent if outside the UK) of the date of interview.
- Evidence of completion of training programme offering wide experience in both elective and non-elective surgery.
- Evidence of progressive personal development, including research.
- Interest in the surgical and management of patients with hip and knee diseases.
- Inclusion on General Medical Council's Specialist Register.
- Broad experience in the management of general skeletal trauma, including Paediatrics.
- Basic Medical qualifications.
Experience:
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in hip and knee trauma surgery.
- Able to provide a general trauma on-call service.
- Experience of working in a Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Skills:
- Ability to work within the relevant clinical and managerial structure.
- Able to lead and motivate staff.
- Able to work collaboratively with and relate to all other health care staff.
- Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and especially with patients and their carers.
- Keen and motivated to both learn and teach.
