Overview
In this Specialty Doctor role, you will provide predominantly clinical care in the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, and inpatient services across two major acute hospitals. You will work within supportive, multidisciplinary teams and contribute to teaching, governance, and audit to support service quality. The post offers broad exposure to acute presentations and opportunities for professional development, CESR pathways, and flexible/alternative contracts. It is a solid foundation for career progression in emergency medicine with a strong emphasis on teaching, research, and collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical care across ED and AMU with ward-based duties
- Participate in out-of-hours rota and multidisciplinary teaching
- Contribute to clinical governance and audit with ongoing appraisal
- Support training of junior staff and medical students
- Engage in education and potential research activities related to Emergency Medicine
- Maintain CPD portfolio and participate in annual appraisal and revalidation
- Possible involvement in allied specialties (Paediatrics, Critical Care, Acute Medicine) as needed
Key requirements
- Progress towards MRCEM
- APLS (or PALS) Provider
- ATLS and ALS Provider
- Two years’ experience in Emergency Medicine
- Experience in handling acute medical emergencies and trauma resuscitation
- Desirable: MRCEM, experience in Acute Paediatrics/ITU/Anaesthesia
- Evidence of quality improvement/clinical effectiveness activity
- Ability to use guidelines and protocols effectively
- CPD portfolio with self-directed learning
- Commitment to training medical staff and allied professionals
