Overview
In this role you lead the Pharmacy Clinical Trials service at Glan Clwyd Hospital, shaping a new specialist function within a growing research portfolio. You will enable safe access to innovative therapies for patients across North Wales, collaborating with oncology/haematology teams and cross-functional partners. You drive service development, governance, and workforce planning to deliver high-quality clinical research outcomes. Responsibilities
- Lead the pharmacy clinical trials service and oversee IMP management across a diverse portfolio
- Perform protocol reviews, study set-up, and ensure GMP/GCP compliance
- Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice to clinicians, sponsors, and research teams
- Support audit, governance, service improvement, and workforce development activities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enable safe delivery of clinical trials
- Contribute to the development of new ways of working within the research environment
- Support weekend/public holiday rota responsibilities as part of the wider pharmacy service
Key requirements
- MPharm degree or equivalent
- Postgraduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- GPhC registration
- Non-medical prescribing qualification (or working towards)
- Experience in managed sector and/or community pharmacy
- Leadership and management experience (desirable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to influence and negotiate in a multidisciplinary setting
- Clinical trials management and IMP oversight
- Protocol development and study setup
- Regulatory compliance and GCP
