Overview
In this role you lead the Trust’s security management, ensuring a secure environment across all sites to support high-quality clinical care. You will shape policy, risk governance and incident response, working across divisions and with external agencies to maintain best-in-class security services. You’ll implement key policies like Security Management, Lone Working and Zero Tolerance, and report to governance bodies. This is a pivotal role for safeguarding patients and staff while enabling safe, efficient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and expert guidance on corporate security policy, risk and governance.
- Develop and promote the Security service as a centre of excellence.
- Update policies, procedures and work instructions as needed.
- Lead investigations and resolution of complaints and security incidents.
- Ensure high-quality security response during major incidents and high-risk situations.
- Maintain comprehensive security arrangements across the organisation.
- Coordinate with external agencies (Police, crime prevention, NHS bodies).
- Maintain records of security, violence and harassment incidents, and monitor trends.
- Investigate security breaches and advise on improvements.
- Conduct site security surveys and recommend enhancements.
- Manage and develop CCTV, access control, intruder and panic alarm systems.
- Produce security reports and analysis for committees.
- Monitor and update the Trust Security website.
- Support secure working environments in Estates and Facilities.
- Ensure patient- and staff-focused security issue resolution.
- Participate in national/regional networks and disseminate learnings.
- Provide security advice on harassment, personal safety, and related issues.
- Support staff in reporting violence and harassment to Police.
- Attend meetings addressing challenging behaviours with diplomacy and decisiveness.
- Oversee Unacceptable Behaviour/Behaviour Agreement processes and Zero Tolerance responses.
- Maintain information systems and share information with senior leadership and external bodies.
- Contribute to Estates and Facilities objectives and losses/compensation processes.
- Prepare security and crime-related reports for senior leadership and Trust Board.
Key requirements
- Significant management experience in the Security sector or equivalent environment.
- Experience in staff management including objective setting, appraisals, recruitment and disciplinary issues.
- Proven track record developing and implementing security improvements.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Extensive MS Office proficiency.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
