Overview
In this permanent, full-time role you will join a consultant-led paediatric team to deliver high-quality general paediatrics with a cardiology focus. You will work across multiple sites, participate in joint cardiology clinics, and contribute to acute and elective care for a diverse pediatric population. You will develop professionally through collaboration, teaching, and clinical governance activities, while supporting families and cross-site transfers. This is an opportunity to shape paediatric cardiology services within a large NHS Trust and impact child health across Birmingham.

Responsibilities
- Deliver paediatric care across Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull sites, including HDU and inpatient work
- Participate in the Consultant of the Week on-call model; cover HDU and Paediatric Assessment Unit
- Support acutely unwell children and facilitate intensive care transfers
- Engage in joint paediatric cardiology clinics with Birmingham Children’s Hospital
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and surgical and community services
- Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate doctors; participate in audits and governance
- Maintain CPD, safeguarding training, and life support status (EPALS/APLS)
- Attend mandatory trainings, appraisals, and revalidation
- Contribute to service development and patient safety initiatives
- Spend two weeks per year on CAU BHH with weekday on-call duties
- Foster a values-driven, inclusive culture within the Trust
Key requirements
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- Current UK professional registration
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Sponsorship eligibility for skilled workers (UK)
- On-going commitment to safeguarding and professional revalidation
