We are looking for someone with excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills who can work confidently with investigators, senior managers and partner organisations. You will advise on complex research costings, support grant submissions, interpret funder requirements, maintain accurate systems and help ensure applications are progressed to demanding deadlines. This varied role offers exposure to a wide range of research, funding schemes and collaborators, with opportunities to develop specialist knowledge in research finance, SoECATs, AcoRD and the wider grant application process.
Main duties of the job include:
- Supporting clinicians and academics to develop high-quality, fully costed applications for clinical, data and applied health research.
- Acting as a key point of contact for grant enquiries, meeting with investigators to understand project requirements, interpreting funder guidance and preparing or reviewing budgets, financial information and supporting documentation.
- Managing multiple applications, monitoring deadlines, maintaining accurate records on departmental systems, drafting letters of support, coordinating approvals and sign-off, and working closely with universities and other external partners.
- Supporting SoECAT activity, applying the AcoRD framework, ensuring relevant Sponsorship and Governance costs are included, and contributing to reports, service metrics and process improvement.
We are looking for someone who is organised, analytical and confident working independently. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, advanced IT skills particularly Excel, and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines. Experience of working in research, healthcare or a university environment, together with an understanding of research funding and clinical research delivery will be important.
