Overview

As Principal Information Analyst, you will lead analytics for commissioning, contracting and financial data within the Trust. You will shape the BI framework for information needs across commissioning and data flows, providing expert guidance on compliance, policy and reporting. You will deliver timely, accurate national and local reports and support performance improvement initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of BI, finance and NHS information communities, offering a strategic, impact-driven opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the BI framework for commissioning data flows across the Trust
  • Support understanding of commissioning data flows for the organisation
  • Define reporting requirements in the data warehouse to streamline automated processes
  • Produce timely briefing reports and analyses from multiple data sources (including finance and commissioner data)
  • Contribute to performance improvement and innovative business development strategies
  • Provide expert advice on national/local policies (e.g., Operating Framework, Specialist Commissioning rules) relevant to information responsibilities
  • Contribute to future BI team development and information initiatives
  • Analyze complex statistical information and utilise SPC or similar charts
  • Report on-site as required (minimum three days per week)

Key requirements

  • Degree in numerate / informatics or business management related subject or equivalent significant experience
  • Experience with NHS contracting and financial processes including reconciliation and negotiation
  • Evidence of continued professional development in specialist informatics
  • Knowledge of NHS information, reporting and performance management requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of NHS commissioning data flows, requirements and regulatory requirements across outpatient, diagnostics, pharmacy and inpatient areas
  • Understanding of financial information flows such as payments by results
  • Ability to interpret statutory requirements and translate into local policy/procedures
  • Experience of leading and motivating staff and delivering work programmes within timescales
