Overview
In this role you will provide clinical leadership for the assessment and inpatient management of general adult patients on Grangewater Ward/MHAU. You will work closely with the ward team to ensure a high-quality, safe service within Basildon’s acute psychiatric unit. The post supports professional development through teaching, research, and opportunities with ARU and other institutions. A key focus is delivering effective, patient-centered care and contributing to team-based service improvement. This is a chance to shape inpatient psychiatric care in a supportive NHS environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership for assessment and management of general adult inpatients on Grangewater Ward/MHAU
- Collaborate with the ward team and manager to ensure effective service delivery
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota
Key requirements
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration and Specialist Register entry or within six months of annotation
- Meets Royal College of Psychiatrists criteria for Consultant appointment
- Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status
- Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
