Overview
In this role you will join a dedicated ophthalmology team to deliver high-quality glaucoma care while supporting general ophthalmology. You will work within a multidisciplinary department that includes specialists across Retina, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Uveitis and more, contributing to an ambitious service redesign. You will help provide patient-centred, one-stop clinical care and training, with opportunities to shape service delivery. The position offers meaningful clinical impact, collaboration, and a clear pathway for professional development.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and improve ophthalmic care in the Alhambra Outpatients Department, in collaboration with consultants
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to provide a high-quality Ophthalmology service
- Advise clinical colleagues on scope of practice within area of expertise
- Liaise with other health organisations, social services, GPs, voluntary sectors and hospice as required
- Contribute to teaching and training of staff at all levels
- Demonstrate ongoing clinical governance and service quality improvements
- Contribute to organisational planning and management processes within the Trust
Key requirements
- FRCOphth or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
- On the specialist register, or within 6 months of CSST at interview
- Wide experience in Ophthalmology with UK experience
- Ability to run independent cataract lists
- Experience supervising ophthalmology trainees
- Commitment to medical audit (essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Organisational and leadership abilities
- Clinical governance understanding
- Knowledge of IT in Ophthalmology
- OpenEyes knowledge
