Overview
In this role you will lead high-quality colorectal surgery within a busy North Wales department and collaborate with other surgeons and teams to deliver a capable, patient-centred service. You will participate in MDTs, audits and teaching, shaping clinical practice and trainees' development. There is an opportunity to expand skills in Robotic Assisted Colorectal Resections (Versius). The post offers flexible working options and a supportive environment to balance service needs with professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide a high-quality colorectal service
- Work flexibly with colleagues to meet hospital activity targets
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDT)
- Contribute to clinical audit, evidence-based research and appraisal
- Contribute to trainee training, tutorials and on-the-job teaching
- Agree and review an annual job plan with management and lead clinician
- Undertake necessary administrative duties related to patient care
Key requirements
- FRCS (Colorectal) or equivalent
- Full GMC Specialist Registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
- Wide experience in General Surgery
- Specialist Colorectal training and experience
- Understanding of NHS management practices
- Desirable: Accredited to perform colonoscopy
- Desirable: Experience in Low Rectal Cancer resection
- Desirable: Training/experience with the CMR Versius Robotic Surgical system
- Desirable: Leadership/management experience
- Desirable: Welsh-speaking or willingness to learn Welsh
- Ability to work well within an inter-disciplinary team
- Commitment to continued professional development
