Overview
In this role you will join the Cardiac Surgery team to provide high‑quality, advanced clinical care within a multidisciplinary environment. You will support the patient pathway with ward-based duties, pre- and post-operative management, and escalation of deteriorating patients in collaboration with the surgical and transplant teams. The position blends clinical practice with advanced practice pillars and teaching/mentoring responsibilities, contributing to service delivery at a tertiary cardiac surgery unit.

Responsibilities
- Ward-based clinical duties to support patient pathways
- Pre-operative and post-operative management of cardiac surgical patients
- Clinical assessment, diagnosis and management with escalation as needed
- Liaison with multidisciplinary teams and primary care
- Care for heart and lung transplant patients in collaboration with the transplant team
- Compliance with Trust ACP governance standards
- Role split: ~90% clinical practice and ~10% non-clinical activity
Key requirements
- Professional healthcare registration with a UK regulatory body (NMC / HCPC / GPhC)
- Postgraduate qualification in cardiac specialty or equivalent experience
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or working towards with evidence across four pillars
- Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification (V300) where applicable
- Advanced Life Support qualification (desirable to essential)
- Recognised teaching/mentoring qualification or equivalent experience
- Extensive post-registration senior clinical experience (Band 7+)
- Experience in MDT working and ongoing CPD
- Reliable, punctual and professional attitude
- Ability to work under pressure in a complex care environment
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision making
- Advanced Clinical Practice with focus on four pillars
- Advanced health assessment module (Level 7)
- Non-Medical Prescribing (V300)
