Overview
As a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, you will join a busy Clinical Chemistry department within one of the UK's leading NHS trusts. Based at Heartlands Hospital with flexibility for cross-site work, you will contribute to a 24/7 diagnostic and monitoring service. You will operate with advanced analysers and automated systems, supporting high-quality, timely, and specialised investigations. This role offers training and development within a UKAS ISO 15189 accredited, MHRA approved, IBMS‑accredited environment. You will work as part of a values-driven, inclusive team to shape reliable laboratory diagnostics.
Responsibilities
- Support high-quality, timely, and specialised laboratory services in a fast-paced department
- Contribute to a 24/7 diagnostic and monitoring service, including weekend shifts
- Operate and maintain automated analysers and associated systems
- Engage in training and professional development within an IBMS-accredited framework
- Work within ISO 15189, MHRA, and IBMS accreditation standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers as needed
- Participate in rotating shift system (early, day, late, nights)
- Support service expansion and continuous improvement efforts
Key requirements
- BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or IBMS‑ratified equivalent
- HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) per HPC guidelines
