Overview

Join Oxford University Hospitals as a Consultant in Acute General Medicine and Ambulatory Care, delivering care across main hospital sites and collaborating with Emergency Department and other specialties. You will lead acute admissions, outpatient care, and ward rounds, contributing to teaching, governance, and audit in a large NHS teaching trust. The role combines clinical leadership with research and service development in a high-volume acute medicine setting. Pay / Benefits

  • Salary: 113,565 to 150,569 per year

Responsibilities

  • Manage acute admissions and urgent care streams across Trust sites
  • Provide consultant-level care for outpatients and inpatients
  • Lead ward rounds and clinical governance activities
  • Collaborate with Emergency Department and other hospital specialties
  • Participate in teaching, training, and professional development
  • Engage in audit, risk management, and service development initiatives

Key requirements

  • Medical degree (MBChB/MBBS)
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • CCT in General/Acute Internal Medicine or GMC specialist registration (or within 6 months of interview)
  • General specialty training to consultant level; 12+ months in acute general medicine
  • Ability to lead a clinical team and make complex decisions
  • Strong English communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to teaching and research
  • Full registration and licence to practise
