In this role you lead the medicines optimisation agenda across Lambeth, Southwark and Bromley, driving value from medicines and improving population health. You will supervise a dedicated medicines optimisation team and collaborate across primary care, community pharmacy and local authorities to deliver neighbourhood-based care and reduce inequalities. The role focuses on shaping digital prescribing, budget management, and integration of pharmacy within local health services to sustain improvements. You will work with senior clinical and strategic leaders to deliver scalable, cross-organisation improvements that benefit patients and communities.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of five within a wider medicines optimisation function to deliver strategic priorities
- Drive prescribing budget management and QIPP delivery
- Oversee medicines and long-term condition transformation programmes
- Implement digital prescribing optimisation tools
- Develop workforce and capability within the team
- Advance integration of community pharmacy across local services
- Support neighbourhood-based models of care and population health management
- Build partnerships across primary care, community pharmacy, local authorities and providers
Key requirements
- Degree in Pharmacy (Master in Pharmacy) or equivalent
- Experience in performance and change management, business planning, budget setting and contracting processes in health
- Experience leading teams and improving performance
- Ability to analyse complex issues and plan for strategic objectives
- Knowledge of managing significant budgets and delivering financial performance
- Strong understanding of national/local pharmaceutical and prescribing policies, clinical governance, information governance, legislation and guidance related to medicines supply and practice
