Overview
In this Paediatric ENT consultant role, you will contribute to paediatric and general ENT care at East Kent Hospitals, primarily based at William Harvey Hospital. You will balance paediatric surgery, clinic work, admin, and SPA time, with some general adult ENT activity and on-call commitments. The role focuses on improving both paediatric and surgical pathways, meeting referral criteria, and coordinating with wards across sites. You will join a large trust committed to leadership, research, teaching, and ongoing development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver general paediatric surgery and clinics at William Harvey Hospital
- Manage associated admin tasks and maintain proportionate SPA time
- Contribute to some General adult ENT activity
- Improve medical and surgical pathways for paediatric patients
- Ensure activity aligns with Referral & Treatment Criteria and demand planning
- Fulfill on-call duties at the WHH base site and collaborate with other consultants
- Engage in leadership, research, and teaching initiatives as part of the trust's development programs
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration with license to practice
- Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at time of interview
- English Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- Valid BLS Training
- Paediatric ENT fellowship
- Leadership attributes/experience
- Delivery of strategic transformational pathways
- Good communication skills
- Sound professional judgement
- Ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels
- Competencies equivalent to Highest Specialist Training in ENT
- Broad experience in ENT elective surgery and emergency care
- Participation in clinical audit/QI projects
