Overview

In this role you will join the established Liaison Psychiatry team to develop care plans and clinical strategies for adults with acute mental health needs. You will lead and support teams of practitioners, enable timely interventions, and provide specialist assessments to optimise recovery. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to deliver evidence-based treatment plans and ensure safe, compassionate care. Responsibilities

  • Accept referrals aged 18+ for assessment, treatment and coordination with relevant services
  • Collaborate with the Liaison Psychiatry Service and involved agencies
  • Maintain a clinical caseload for patients with co-morbid physical and mental illness
  • Provide specialist input, liaison, consultancy and education to colleagues
  • Develop and provide evidence-based treatment plans in partnership with the patient and referrer
  • Formulate, implement and evaluate treatment programmes
  • Promote mental health and wellbeing by providing information and advice to patients, families and supporting agencies
  • Advise on clinical management and risk assessment
  • Advise on management of patients under MHA and MCA

Key requirements

  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist with HCPC/NMC registration
  • Post-registration therapy qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • Educated or working towards Masters degree level via specialist modules
  • Undertaken Practice Assessor Training
  • Previous experience as a senior clinician (Band 6 or above)
  • Experience of delivering CBT or a similar therapeutic approach
  • Experience working in the community with people with mental health problems
  • Sound knowledge of mental health problems and the impact of physical and mental illness on wellbeing
  • Ability to develop and provide training packages
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Ability to travel to different sites across the Trust in a timely manner
  • Computer literate
