Overview
As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine you will provide high-standard acute and post-acute geriatric care within a large NHS trust. You will work with the frailty pathway to initiate CGA early in the emergency process and collaborate with therapy, discharge services, and community partners. You will share leadership responsibilities, contribute to governance, and support service improvements in a dynamic, patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee inpatient care for geriatric patients and manage administrative duties associated with their care
- Coordinate with the Clinical Director and Care Group Management on organizational and budget matters
- Provide on-call and acute hospital sessional coverage to ensure continuity of inpatient care
- Engage in flexible duties including administration, management, committee work, and pastoral/relative interviews
- Support frailty-focused care pathways and CGA initiation within the emergency pathway
- Contribute to leadership development and mentoring through education programs
- Participate in governance activities, audits and service improvements
- Collaborate with therapy and discharge services and community partners to enable timely discharge and post-acute care
Key requirements
- GMC registration in good standing
- Specialist Registration or eligibility to obtain within 6 months
- Geriatric Medicine experience
- Desirable: NHS geriatric medicine experience
- Experience in audit and service improvement
- UK professional registration and eligibility for sponsorship (as per job listing)
