Overview
In this role you will join the William Harvey Hospital team to lead and develop hepatology services within a busy gastroenterology department. You will manage acute and chronic liver disease across etiologies and help maintain collaboration with Kings College Hospital for transplantation pathways. This position offers involvement in MDT discussions and potential contribution to ERCP services, within a supportive, improvement-driven Trust. You will work as part of a larger hepatology-enabled service across multiple sites, shaping local care for a growing patient population.
Responsibilities
- Manage acute and chronic liver disease across all etiologies
- Lead and develop the local hepatology team
- Maintain and develop links with Kings College Hospital for transplantation pathways
- Participate in weekly liver triage MDT with a transplant hepatologist
- Balance outpatient templates towards hepatology patients
- Opportunity to contribute to Trust-wide ERCP provision
- Support general gastroenterology duties as needed (competency for colonoscopy not required)
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration
- CCST Specialist Registration in Gastroenterology, or will achieve within 6 months of interview
- Desirable MRCP (UK)
- Expertise in managing complex hepatology cases
- Experience in managing acute and chronic liver disease of all etiologies
