Overview
As a Consultant in Stroke Medicine, you will join a high-volume stroke service and contribute to hyper-acute, acute, rehabilitation, and community stroke care. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care across King’s Mill Hospital and partner sites, shaping stroke pathways and on-call duty coverage. The role offers leadership in service development with dedicated time for research, education, and governance. This is a clinically led, patient-centered opportunity within a well-established NHS foundation trust.

Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive stroke medicine care across hyper-acute, acute, and rehabilitation settings
- participate in acute medical on-call when needed
- work within a multidisciplinary team to manage stroke patients and drive service development
- supervise and collaborate with junior medical staff and trainees
- contribute to clinical governance, audit, and Continuing Medical Education
- facilitate timely investigations and treatment pathways (e.g., thrombolysis, imaging) in collaboration with partners
- support the Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS) and links with partner trusts
- participate in teaching and training activities for staff and trainees
- engage in service improvement projects and research translation into practice
Key requirements
- Full and Specialist GMC registration with licence to practise or eligible for specialist registration within six months
- Membership of Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
- Portfolio Pathway/CESR applicants must be on Specialist Register at application
- Experience in stroke medicine and ability to work with a multi-professional team
