Overview
In this Consultant role, you will advance high-quality patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings at King's Mill and Newark Hospitals. You will work within a multi-site respiratory team that includes rehabilitation, sleep services, and a strong imaging and oncology MDT, contributing to a broad spectrum of clinics and procedures. You’ll engage in diagnosis, management, and complex cases across sub-specialties (Lung Cancer, ILD, COPD, TB, Bronchiectasis) and participate in a growing research portfolio. This role offers a chance to shape services across mid-Nottinghamshire while collaborating with clinicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care across in-patient, out-patient, and on-call settings
- Run and contribute to respiratory outpatient clinics at multiple sites, including sub-specialist clinics
- Perform and support procedures such as bronchoscopy, Endobronchial ultrasound, thoracoscopy, and indwelling pleural catheters
- Support pulmonary rehabilitation and oxygen services across three sites
- Engage with a multidisciplinary team including radiology, oncology, and nursing staff through a local MDT
- Participate in research recruitment and activity within the department
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Specialist registration with the GMC or within 6 months of CCT at interview
- Portfolio Pathway applicants must be on the specialist register at application
- Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or equivalent
- Educational leadership and ability to supervise and teach
- Collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
- Communication and stakeholder engagement
- Respiratory medicine expertise across general and sub-specialist clinics
- Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), Thoracoscopy
- Indwelling pleural catheters
