Overview
As a Band 7 Advanced Podiatrist with a vascular focus, you will lead advanced podiatric care for active foot disease across county services. You will develop community vascular services in collaboration with high-risk and diabetes pathways, working in acute and community settings to ensure rapid diagnosis, treatment, and integrated care. You will supervise colleagues, drive MDT collaboration, and contribute to education across the trust and wider system. This role offers scope to shape vascular foot care at scale and across trusts.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for complex podiatric cases
- Develop and lead MDT pathways across the county and streamline transfer of care between acute and community settings
- Oversee clinics and manage the most complex foot cases; supervise Band 6 podiatrists and assess competencies
- Lead on advanced practice activities, including interpretation of imaging and blood results, prescribing and total contact casting
- Provide education and training for primary, secondary, and social care staff; support peer development
- Travel across the county to meet service needs and collaborate with adjacent trusts
- Lead on service development for vascular, high-risk, and diabetic foot care within community and hospital settings
- Support policy development and adherence to clinical guidelines within professional boundaries
- Contribute to the implementation of integrated care models and quality improvement initiatives
Key requirements
- HCPC registered podiatrist
- Podiatry diploma/degree
- Local anaesthetics certificate
- Evidence of CPD in relevant area
- MSc in relevant field or willingness to work towards one
- Independent Prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards one
- Ability to demonstrate Band 7 competency level per Podiatry Skill framework
- Experience in MDT environments; management experience; wound management evidence
- Leadership and management

- Advanced clinical skills in podiatry
- Ability to interpret diagnostic imaging (x-ray)
- Ability to interpret blood results
