An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join the Breast Services team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We welcome applications from experienced ACPs, including those with a Surgical Care Practitioner background, who are looking to develop their expertise within a dynamic and progressive breast service. Applicants should demonstrate advanced autonomous clinical practice, sound clinical judgement and a strong commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and patient-centred care.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care across both symptomatic and cancer pathways. The successful candidate will play a key role in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing management of patients with breast conditions, working autonomously within their scope of practice.
You will work closely with Consultant Breast Surgeons, Radiologists, Breast Care Nurses, Oncology colleagues, Allied Health Professionals and administrative teams to deliver safe, effective and timely care. You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement and innovation, helping shape the future of our breast services. Person Specification Knowledge Requirements Essential:
- Post registration MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (or working towards completion).
- Previous experience working as a Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) or completion of an accredited Surgical Care Practitioner programme.
- Independent Non-Medical Prescriber (or willingness to undertake).
- Significant post-registration clinical experience in breast services.
- Demonstrable experience working autonomously.
- Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Evidence of teaching, supervision and assessment skills.
- Proven management skills - effective organisational abilities, supervisory skills, leadership skills, change management skills.
- Clinical governance, current health service priorities.
- IT literate.
- Registered healthcare professional (NMC or HCPC).
Desirable:
- Experience in clinical governance, including clinical audit, quality improvement, incident investigation, risk management and implementation of learning to improve patient safety.
- Experience leading or contributing to service development and pathway redesign.
- Participation in research or service evaluation projects.
Health and safety Qualifications - Academic/ Craft/ Professional Essential:
- Registered with relevant healthcare professional body (NMC / HCPC / GPC etc).
- MSc in advanced clinical practice.
- Meet the criteria as outlined by the relevant specialty college or faculty (where applicable).
- Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.
- Non-medical prescriber.
Desirable:
- Relevant teaching qualification.
- Evidence of research and audit.
Experience Essential:
- Significant post registration experience, most recent of which should be in a senior position OR experience as defined by specialty college/faculty.
- Direct supervision of junior staff.
- Evidence of contribution to audit programmes within practice.
- Evidence of managing complex patients in stressful and emotional situations where life-changing events are being communicated and clinically managed.
- Relevant teaching/supervising/mentoring experience.
- Professional and patient focused, with a strong commitment to providing high quality care.
- Supervision of students.
Desirable:
- Project management.
Contractual Requirements Essential:
- Ability to work flexibly within working hours of ward/department.
