As National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) transitions into the RIIO T3 price control period, we are delivering an ambitious programme of regulatory, operational and organisational change. This includes major initiatives such as six monthly reopener windows, Connections Reform, and internal transformation to strengthen our regulatory capabilities. We are looking for a Senior Manager - Portfolio Management & Operations to play a critical role at the centre of our Regulation team.

In this role, you'll shape and drive delivery of a complex portfolio of cross organisational regulatory activity, ensuring we deliver strong commercial and consumer outcomes. You'll provide strategic oversight across the regulatory change portfolio, translating priorities into clear, coordinated plans and ensuring activity is aligned, prioritised and delivered effectively across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead portfolio management by translating strategic regulatory priorities into a clear, deliverable roadmap, tracking progress and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Manage interdependencies, risks and issues, ensuring robust mitigation plans and effective escalation where needed.
  • Drive prioritisation and resource alignment, ensuring the team is focused on the highest impact areas.
  • Embed operational excellence across the Regulation function, including governance, reporting, data management and standard ways of working.
  • Establish and run effective governance frameworks, enabling timely decision‑making and clear accountability.
  • Oversee principal regulatory risks, including the T3 Principle Risk, ensuring controls and assurance processes are in place.
  • Lead complex regulatory programmes, from mobilisation through to delivery, aligning outcomes with strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop portfolio and project management capability across the team.
  • Lead and influence virtual teams across NGET to deliver key programme outcomes.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, including Executive leaders, Ofgem and wider industry bodies.

About you

  • Significant experience in senior programme or portfolio management, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • A strong track record of delivering complex programmes through ambiguity and organisational change.
  • Deep expertise in PMO leadership, including governance, reporting, assurance and portfolio controls.
  • Understanding of RIIO frameworks (or the ability to quickly build expertise), particularly how regulation translates into delivery and evidence‑based submissions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence operating at Executive level.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to manage risk, trade‑offs and competing priorities.
  • Experience building high‑performing teams and operational framework.
