National Grid is hiring a Product Line Architect - Group Functions on a permanent basis. This position can be based in Warwick or London. This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of 4-5 days per month in the office. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.
About the role
As a Product Line Architect, you'll act as the primary link between the enterprise architecture team and the product line or capability area you are aligned to. You'll be accountable, alongside other members of the architecture community and product line as appropriate, for the following:
- Develop and maintain the architectural models that will be used to understand the organisation and manage its change, transformation and optimisation agendas.
- Maintain an overarching view of the business unit or capability they are aligned to, understanding its functions, digital enablement, information needs and eco-system, ensuring these are incorporated into the wider organisational views, and transformation agenda.
- Develop input into the strategic context for the product line or capability, in conjunction with the PLD & other architects.
- End-to-end delivery of the solutions that are identified as enabling the change and transformation portfolio needs.
- Enable solution design and delivery, supporting the change portfolio needs of the wider organisation.

- Shape and maintain the strategic technology roadmap for your product line.
- Lead enterprise and business architecture efforts that drive organisational transformation.
- Oversee end to end solution delivery that enables key change and digital initiatives.
- Promote common technology standards and coordinate information systems across the organisation.
- Manage information and records governance, ensuring compliance and effective lifecycle management.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, risks, and future capabilities.
- Drive investment appraisal activities and provide insight for multi million pound technology decisions.
- Strengthen sustainability practices and contribute to environmentally responsible technology planning.
- Lead business process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and leverage digital innovation.
- Build powerful, collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders across the enterprise.
About you
- Familiar with common business systems and their implementation including but not limited to - finance, people, corporate risk, health & safety, legal, environmental.
- Understand the information model associated with standard corporate systems, and how they need to be integrated into other business capabilities.
- Experience with developing high level solution architectures associated with standard corporate systems.
- Ability to successfully operate at a senior managers level, forming strong relationships and engagement as needed across all levels of the Business Entity.
- Strong leadership, relationship, communication, and presentation skills combined with a good track record of delivery.
- Experience of strategic, investment and product planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities.
- Good understanding of the business area within which they are operating.
- Good understanding of current and emerging product methods, agile methodologies, and trends.
- Good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business results.
- Experience of working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results.
