Lead GIS Manager - Great Grid Partnership (GGP) in Warwick

About the role

Shape the future of digital infrastructure at scale. We're looking for a Lead GIS Manager to drive the strategy, systems and delivery of geospatial capability across the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) - one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure programmes. This is a senior leadership role where you'll define and implement GIS strategy, ensuring consistent, high-quality geospatial delivery across multiple complex projects. You'll be driven by a continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for digital transformation and information management. This role offers hybrid working, with regular travel across the Midlands for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the implementation of GGP's GIS strategy, aligned to NGSI ambition.
• Set the technical direction for GIS capability (web, desktop, enterprise) across projects.
• Define and embed GIS standards, processes and data governance across the programme.
• Oversee delivery of shared GIS platforms, data standards and workflows.
• Engage with projects and partners to gather requirements and align ways of working.
• Ensure consistent, contractually aligned GIS deliverables across all projects.
• Lead integration of GIS with wider digital systems, platforms and data environments.
• Drive best practice adoption across geospatial information management.
• Manage and develop a team of GIS specialists, providing technical leadership.
• Support risk, opportunity and benefit analysis linked to GIS and digital delivery.
• Contribute to digital governance, reporting on progress, risks and opportunities.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience leading GIS teams and large-scale programmes.
• Strong track record delivering GIS strategy within complex infrastructure environments.
• Deep technical GIS expertise and understanding of enterprise systems.
• Experience implementing GIS platforms, tools and digital services at scale.
• Experience delivering collaborative environments using ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
• Experience leading the development of intuitive, user-focused GIS solutions.
• Strong project delivery capability - managing timelines, costs and resources.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements.
• Ability to set and communicate clear expectations with stakeholders.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary, complex delivery environments.
• Solid understanding of quality management and data standards.

Qualifications:

• Degree (or equivalent) in GIS, Geography, Engineering, IT or related field.
• Chartered status (e.g. RGS, BCS, Engineering Council).
