Job Purpose

The Innovation Analyst is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of innovation projects by coordinating project activities, managing financial and governance requirements, and maintaining accurate project information. Working closely with Innovation Engineers and key stakeholders, the role helps ensure projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and provide maximum value, while supporting the wider innovation portfolio through effective administration, reporting, and assurance activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the successful delivery of innovation projects funded through programmes such as the Strategic Innovation Fund and Network Innovation Allowance.
  • Coordinate project activities, ensuring milestones, actions, risks and dependencies are effectively tracked and managed.
  • Maintain project governance, documentation and audit-ready records to ensure compliance with funding and assurance requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate governance submissions, reports and approval papers, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage project data, trackers and reporting information to support decision‑making and portfolio oversight.
  • Support financial management activities, including forecasting, invoicing, budget tracking and financial reporting.
  • Work with finance, procurement and commercial teams to support contracting and supplier management processes.
  • Organise project meetings, coordinate stakeholders and ensure actions are followed through to completion.
  • Support project close‑out activities, ensuring all reporting, financial and documentation requirements are completed.
  • Capture lessons learned and project insights to support future innovation opportunities and continuous improvement.
  • Help develop and enhance tools, templates and processes that improve the efficiency, consistency and quality of innovation delivery.
  • Provide research, evidence gathering and administrative support to help Innovation Engineers scope and develop new projects.

About You

Experience in the following areas will be helpful for this role:

  • Supporting projects or programmes in a regulated, technical or innovation‑focused environment.
  • Project coordination, administration or portfolio support, working across multiple workstreams in parallel.
  • Supporting financial management activities, including cost tracking and reporting.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders, partners or suppliers.

What You’ll Get

A competitive salary between £42,000 – £50,000 dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive 26 days holiday, plus eight statutory days, an option to buy extra holiday days, and the option to holiday swap up to 3 bank holiday days. An annual performance incentive. A generous pension scheme, double matched up to 6% of your salary each month. For every £1 you contribute we’ll put in another £2, so if you put in 6%, we’ll add 12% giving a total of 18% to your pension pot. Life insurance at 10 times basic salary. Employer funding towards a portion of your Private Medical Insurance. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
