We are currently expanding our team with multiple opportunities across different Innovation Engineer levels, offering both permanent and fixed-term contract roles. This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per week in the Warwick office.
Job Purpose
As an Innovation Engineer, you’ll be right at the centre of this work - researching, trialling, and deploying new ideas that make a tangible impact. You’ll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects, from concept through to delivery, ensuring they drive measurable value for the business. We’re looking for engineers with curiosity, creativity, and a passion for making a difference. This is more than just a technical role. What You'll Do
- Exploring and prioritising new ideas and supporting the development of innovation strategies.
- Developing strong business cases and deployment plans for project sanctioning.
- Leading technical research, development, and demonstration projects across a given portfolio.
- Driving the strategy for your given innovation portfolio, working with senior leaders and sponsors to shape the right innovation opportunities and projects.
- Building strong relationships across the energy ecosystem - from colleagues to suppliers and external innovators.
- Embedding innovation into business as usual and delivering value from innovation.
- Championing an innovation culture across NGET.
About You
- A background in innovation, with knowledge of high-voltage or transmission environments.
- Experience in one or more of our innovation portfolio areas: substations, overhead lines, underground/offshore cables, power systems, sustainability, resilience, data/digital, customer connections.
- Experience developing technology-based solutions and deploying them into operational settings.
- Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to think strategically and define future innovation needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in project, stakeholder, and supplier management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
What You'll Get
- Associate Innovation Engineer - Competitive salary between £47,000 – £54,000 dependent on capability.
- Innovation Engineer - Competitive salary between £54,000 – £63,000 dependent on capability.
