The Executive Communications Manager will drive National Grid's external executive communications with clarity, precision, and strategic intent. In this role, you will shape how senior leaders show up externally—crafting messaging that clearly articulates the company's priorities, performance, and long-term direction to key audiences.
With a strong emphasis on financial PR, you will translate complex financial information and corporate developments into accessible, accurate, and impactful communications. You'll prepare executives for high-stakes external engagements—media activity, investor conversations, industry platforms, and thought leadership opportunities—ensuring their messages are well-structured, aligned, and backed by a strong narrative.
You will work cross-functionally alongside Communications, Investor Relations, Corporate Affairs, Legal, and the Executive Office to ensure consistency and influence across all channels. Your work will strengthen the visibility, credibility, and reputation of National Grid's leadership and help shape the organisation's external voice. This role is about elevating executive communications with discipline, insight, and strategic impact.

What you'll be getting up to:
- Develop and implement communication strategies and plans that support the executive leadership team’s objectives and enhance National Grid’s reputation, with a focus on financial PR.
- Collaborate with executives to prepare speeches, presentations, and other communication materials that effectively convey key messages and initiatives.
- Ensure that all executive communications are aligned with National Grid's brand messaging and corporate values.
- Monitor and analyse feedback from internal and external stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of executive communications and make recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate with Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to messaging and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage the logistics and execution of executive events, including media interviews and public appearances, ensuring that all communications are well-prepared and delivered.
- Stay informed about industry trends, media coverage, and public sentiment to provide strategic insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
About you:
- Proven experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or public relations, preferably within the energy, utilities, or corporate sectors.
- Significant experience of financial PR - preferable to have experience managing results announcements.
- Strong understanding of communication strategies, messaging frameworks, and best practices in stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders.
