About the role

As Data Fabric Platform Manager, you'll be accountable for the strategic leadership, operation and continual improvement of NGET's enterprise Data Fabric. You'll ensure the Fabric becomes the backbone of NGET's data strategy by providing trusted, governed, connected, high performing data products across Electricity Transmission. You'll blend platform management (secure, scalable, reliable infrastructure; operational excellence) and product management (roadmap, adoption, user experience, value realisation).

Key responsibilities are the following:

  • Mature the Data Fabric to ensure it continues to be enterprise grade, reliable, performant and adopted at scale.

  • Work with product line directors and the CIDO data team to increase adoption and simplify access to data for our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Connect the organisation's data-applications, stores, APIs, and domains-into a single, discoverable and secure fabric that accelerates insights and the application of AI.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers to deliver modern data capability aligned to NGET's federated operating model and RIIO T3 ambitions.

The role is not only critical to enabling NGET's digital transformation, but also to allow NGET to meet new Ofgem and industry guidelines, providing deep cloud expertise that empowers product and platform teams while ensuring safety, security, compliance and operational excellence.

  • Lead the end to end operation of the Data Fabric platform, ensuring secure, scalable, reliable, and observable hybrid (SaaS + Azure) services.
  • Drive platform innovation and continuous improvement, including automation, GenAI assisted data product delivery, and increased platform maturity.
  • Oversee data and platform engineering standards, including connectors, integration patterns, and modern high code/low code/AI workbenches.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle for the Data Fabric, from discovery and design through launch, adoption, optimisation, and retirement.
  • Enable trusted, governed, and discoverable data products through strong governance, security, modelling, and operational practices.
  • Establish and test business continuity and resilience plans to protect critical data services and platform availability.
  • Lead business process improvement initiatives, leveraging automation and new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a senior stakeholder partner, influencing across technology, business, and regulatory groups to maximise platform adoption and value.
  • Provide line management leadership, building high performing teams, supporting resourcing, and fostering strong employee engagement and ways of working.

About you

  • Senior leadership in a modern data platform or data product organisation, ideally in a regulated sector or large enterprise.
  • Proven ownership of a hybrid cloud data platform, ideally involving SaaS control planes and Azure PaaS (AKS, APIM, ADLS2, Azure Functions, Key Vault).
  • Experience with Data Mesh, federated models, domain driven design and enterprise-wide data governance.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, dbt, SQL, Trino/Presto, and data modelling for analytics.
  • Delivery of large scale data catalogue, metadata, lineage and data quality initiatives aligned to best practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and regulators and manage conflicting stakeholder needs.
  • Experience delivering platforms with strong security posture (OPA/ABAC, Entra ID) and clear separation of internal and external data zones.
  • Background in platform or product roles that combine engineering excellence with product value thinking.
  • Able to define & communicate clear vision in complex, multi-domain technical landscapes.
  • Comfortable balancing enterprise risk, operational reliability, and rapid product iteration.
