About the role

At National Grid Ventures, we're building a more connected, resilient and low-carbon energy system. Our interconnectors move electricity across borders - 7.8GW of subsea capacity powering homes, businesses and communities when and where it's needed most. This is your opportunity to join a business at the centre of that transition - where commercial insight directly shapes how value is created, protected and grown. We're currently recruiting for a Commercial Analyst within our Commercial Strategy team. As a Commercial Analyst, you'll turn market insight into commercial impact. You'll analyse how energy markets behave, identify risks and opportunities, and help shape the strategies that optimise millions of pounds of revenue across our interconnector portfolio. You'll work across teams and with joint venture partners to challenge thinking, unlock new value and help drive better outcomes for consumers and the business. This role is hybrid with our office based in Warwick, we'd expect to see you twice a week at Warwick and the rest of the week from home.

What you'll do

  • Assess market dynamics and translate them into clear commercial insight
  • Support strategies that optimise revenue and manage risk across our portfolio
  • Shape how capacity products are structured, sold and allocated
  • Develop and maintain models that reflect the latest market view
  • Partner with forecasting, operations and asset teams to strengthen decision-making
  • Support new ideas and commercial opportunities from concept to delivery

What you'll need

  • Strong understanding of GB (and ideally European) electricity markets
  • Sharp analytical thinking with the ability to turn data into insight
  • Confidence explaining complex topics in a clear, engaging way
  • A degree in a numerate discipline or equivalent experience
  • Stakeholder and project experience is a bonus - but curiosity, commercial instinct and a drive to challenge the status quo are what really matter.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £48,374 - £57,012 per annum - dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
