We're looking for a passionate Technical Accounting Manager to join our Group Financial Control Team!The role provides technical accounting expertise for National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET), ensuring robust accounting judgements, high-quality external reporting, effective financial controls and clear advice to senior stakeholders on complex accounting matters. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the financial reporting and control environment of a major UK infrastructure business, advising senior stakeholders on complex accounting matters and supporting high quality external reporting during a period of significant investment and growth.This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we'd hope to see you at least two days per week but you're welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We're happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!What You'll DoResponsible for technical accounting guidance and support for the business - including complex areas of accounting and reporting. This includes advising on large, complex contracts and offering support to business areas (such as commercial) through finance business partners.Liaise with Finance stakeholders (including Business Unit CFOs) to provide subject matter expertise to the business on accounting principles and accounting impact. Overseeing the implementation of new accounting requirements such as accounting standards, reporting requirements and disclosures for NGET. This includes supporting on the implementation of IFRS 18 and IFRS 20.Acting as a key contact on technical discussions with the external auditors, presenting the business position, support and associated technical arguments.Maintain key accounting policies and judgements for the business.Support the completeness, integrity and accuracy of the external financial statements for NGET and assist with the overall UK statutory reporting process working with the Controller, CFO (Accountable) and EBS.Ensure relevant technical accounting SOx and non-SOx controls are designed, operated and evidenced effectively, including supporting remediation of control recommendations and embedding lessons learned into future reporting cycles.Test and help to develop the linkages between the regulatory framework, financial plans, managerial performance and statutory reporting. Support on Financial Control related projects and transactions.What You'll HaveAdvanced ability to research, interpret and apply accounting standards to complex business issues, including preparing clear technical accounting papers.Ability to articulate complex financial topics into clear and actionable advice, to aid commercial decision making.Ability to bring together commercial and technical acumen (accounting, tax, ESG/RBR/EU Taxonomy, regulatory, etc).Financial statement reporting, preparation of Statutory Accounts and technical accounting principles (IFRS).Accounting and Reporting Pronouncements.Support teams and inputs to develop a comprehensive and consistent view of the financial position of the Business for Financial Reporting.Knowledge of governance, risk and controls and compliance standards, ideally Sox.Business Software and Applications (ideally including SAP, ICON and Workiva).Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification.
