We have an opportunity for a Vegetation Compliance Auditor within our West Midlands licence area. The location of the role can be flexible within the West Midlands however ideally based within 30 minutes travel time of one of the following NGED depots: Gloucester, Hereford or Worcester.
National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) vegetation management program employs specialist utility arboriculture contractors to manage vegetation adjacent to its overhead network at all voltages from LV to 132kV. The program follows the principles set out in EREC G136 and is designed to ensure compliance with ESQCR 2006.
Main Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Vegetation Compliance Manager, the Vegetation Compliance Auditors will primarily be responsible for undertaking a range of safety and quality compliance audits on contractor teams and their work.
- From time to time, other duties will include the assessment of vegetation related outage requests, the assessment and interpretation of tree failures in relation to unplanned outages, tree hazard identification & risk assessment, the assessment of one-off quotations for vegetation management works, and provision of expert arboriculture and forestry advice to NGED colleagues and stakeholders as and when required.
Ideal Candidate
- Level 2 or higher NQF in arboriculture and / or forestry
- NPTC UA units 1, 5.1 & 5.2 (or the equivalent new units) or LANTRA equivalents
- Experience in utility arboriculture surveying
- Excellent tree identification skills
- Excellent knowledge of tree pathology, wood decay fungi and pests & diseases
- A thorough understanding of Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) techniques
- The ability to assess and create clear and appropriate work specifications and costings
- Experience of working with utility arboriculture contractors
- Familiarity in working with IT systems
- A clear and consistent focus on safety, quality and customer service
- The ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- A full UK driving licence
Although not essential, it would be beneficial if the successful candidate had the following qualifications and experience:
- Level 3 or higher NQF in arboriculture and / or forestry
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection
- Experience with interpretation of LiDAR data and related imagery
- Competency at LV and HV level
- Experience of ground-based and aerial tree work operations
- Ideally to be within 30 minutes of travel time from either GL4 3BH, HR2 6LB or WR4 9TB
