- A Passion for Energy: experience in the energy sector or similar regulated markets; in-house or strategy consultancy experience is considered beneficial
- Strategy Toolkit & Experience: A demonstrable track record of delivering high priority strategy projects, including:
- solving strategic challenges and producing quality outputs at pace
- problem structuring, hypothesis development and analysis to get to the \’so what\’
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear and compelling narratives in written, slide and verbal form, for Executive and Board stakeholders
- Effective Project Management Toolkit: Strong stakeholder management skills with an ability to lead meetings and build trusted relationships at all levels, including senior leaders
Job Purpose
We, Group Strategy, primarily serve National Grid\’s Executive Leadership team. We stimulate their thinking and ensure they have the clarity to make the right decisions for the future of the business. We focus on projects which sit at the Group level and cut across several parts of the broader business.
The UK Group Strategy Manager role is an opportunity for a passionate, ambitious strategic thinker to help shape the overall direction of the company, provide strategic support to our business units and leadership, and contribute to the delivery of society\’s ambitious net zero agenda and economic growth targets.

What You\’ll Do
- Own and manage strategy projects and workstreams – including scoping, problem structuring, hypothesis development, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and presentation of final deliverables / outputs
- Communicate complex subjects clearly and simply to senior decisionmakers
- Build and manage relationships with our business units and corporate functions, providing them with strategic foresight on emerging market developments and strategic counsel on high priority issues
- Drive clarity on issues of strategic importance for the business through leading meetings and facilitate engaging workshops, tailoring the approach to the audience and context
About You
- Educated to degree level or equivalent plus significant experience of the energy industry or a similarly heavily regulated industry
- MBA or equivalent experience desirable
- Experience of developing strategy for a business
- Experience of formulating strategic initiatives and policy positions
What you\’ll get
- A competitive salary of up to £84,000 (dependent on location, capability and experience)
- A bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance
