We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Regional Project Management Office (PMO) Lead to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Head of PMO and take the lead in shaping, strengthening, and driving our newly established PMO across the West Midlands. You will bring your leadership, project management expertise, and continuous-improvement mindset to optimise project processes, elevate delivery standards, and ensure our key initiatives are executed with excellence.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact—helping embed best practice, enhancing visibility and governance, and supporting colleagues across the organisation to deliver confidently and effectively. As part of our hybrid working approach, you will enjoy a balance of office and home working. This is a full-time role, though we are happy to explore flexible working patterns. Occasional travel to other sites may be required. While the role is ideally based in Tipton, we are open to considering other locations within the West Midlands licence area for the right candidate.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the PMO for the West Midlands region, embedding and ensuring that all project and programme management processes and procedures are beneficial and adhered to in line with business requirements.
- Maintain the portfolio delivery lifecycle, ensuring that it aligns with the company & strategic objectives.
- Monitor Portfolio, Programme and Project performance and report progress to stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Manage risks and issues, ensuring that appropriate action is taken to mitigate any potential problems.
- Manage budgets and ensure that projects are delivered within budget.
- Leverage your deep understanding of project management methodologies and tools to establish best practices within the PMO.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project managers and teams, ensuring that they have the necessary resources, budgets and support to deliver projects successfully.
Ideal Candidate
- Extensive experience in project management, with a proven track record of successful project delivery, in a capital project environment.
- Experience in PMO management and portfolio management.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling clear and effective interaction across a range of stakeholders.
- Valid UK driving licence, with the ability to travel across the West Midlands region.
- Positive, solutions-focused can-do attitude, with strong resilience and the ability to stay effective in challenging situations.
- Confident in using constructive persuasion to influence and drive progress.
- Proficiency with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of project management tools, such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Operations, Economics, Business Administration, or similar is desirable; equivalent professional experience will be given equal consideration.
