Commercial Analyst – National Grid
Overview: An opportunity is available for a Commercial Analyst reporting to the Commercial Enablement Manager. In this role you will provide data analysis and insight into commercial performance across the National Grid Electrical Distribution (NGED) business. This will involve design, automation and implementation of commercial KPIs, and the delivery of analysis to identify trends and support business decisions for both short‑term and strategic plan.
Hybrid and flexible working approach: a mix of working in the office minimum 2 days per week and the rest home working. Standard working week is 37 hours, with flexibility in terms of hours/times if required. Flexibility on where the role is based with locations in one of our Electricity Distributions Offices across the Midlands, South West and South Wales.
Responsibilities
- Use existing data to structure and design relevant insight for commercial & operations, ensuring core KPI’s are covered and visible to all, working with stakeholders to fully understand requirements and gaps.
- Design and execute a forecasting and planning model, translating the strategic asset plan and operational delivery plans into meaningful supply chain demand forecasts.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure plans are created for any gaps in insight that are necessary, influencing priorities and progress.
- Present any insight, recommendations and strategic plans in a clear consistent format, tailoring approach to audience and recipients.
- Support and consolidate complaints insight, highlighting opportunities and recommendations to improve commercial performance for both internal teams and the supply chain.
- Set KPIs for commercial and supply chain performance, ensuring targets are reviewed and communicated each quarter, with appropriate mechanisms in place to make progress trackable and visible.
- Work collaboratively with all areas in NGED to ensure business drivers, assumptions and accurate data are collected to meet the changing needs of the business.
- Design and deliver new insights that highlight new opportunities and drive a continuous improvement approach.
- Utilise data to build from scratch insights that will support the strategic business goals, with the ability to adapt and change along with the business needs.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have an in depth knowledge of commercial & supply chain ways of working and industry standard KPI calculations with an excellent understanding and experience of reporting tools and data presentation.
- Ability to present complex data sets in an easy to understand way along with high concern for accuracy and ability to self‑validate.
- Experience with industry standard performance models, such as quintiles, outlier management.
- An understanding of commercial / contract management and supply chain in the utility industry is desirable although not essential.
- National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a training.
