National Grid is hiring an Instructional Designer to design and develop training curricula and innovative learning solutions to effectively meet the learning needs of the workforce. Within the role you will also be responsible for ensuring training content complies with all regulatory requirements and company policies. This role is a hybrid role and you can be based out of one of our training centres in Eakring, Tipton or Taunton.
What you’ll do
- Produce high quality innovative learning solutions for clients and internal instructor staff.
- Monitor and evaluate instructional best practice and newly emerging learning technologies for their suitability to ensure that effective learning methods are incorporated into National Grid's programmes.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to create learning plans, detailed course outlines, and learning content.
- Obtain stakeholder approval of content to ensure that projects are innovative, well designed, accurate, and delivered on time.
- Manage learning technologies to ensure efficient operation and integration into course delivery.
- Manage client learning requests, multiple design priorities, deadlines, and projects efficiently.
- Stay current with eLearning technologies and tools, incorporating them into the design process to create dynamic and interactive training materials.
- Design web-based tools, eLearning and audio/visual solutions for a broad learning audience to ensure effective learning approaches and methods are embedded within National Grid.
- Evaluate and modify existing training programs and manuals to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all regulatory, environmental, safety and contractual obligations.
- Manage vendor relationships regarding the design and development of training products to ensure adherence to standards and best outcomes for National Grid.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including trainers, subject matter experts, and other designers, to ensure seamless integration of training materials into broader learning initiatives.
- Develop exams and evaluations to assess the effectiveness of training and enable continuous improvement.
What you’ll need
- Instructional design work including adult learning methodology.
- Experience using eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Vyond).
- Utilising a blended learning approach with modern learning technology and best practices.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as SAP SuccessFactors.
- Professional experience in a corporate learning and development environment.
- Project management experience.
- Previous supervisory experience and/or advanced education are considered a plus.
- Technical Electricity Transmission Operations experience and knowledge of safety policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements (advantageous).
- Skilled in computer applications including Office 365 and digital authoring tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully prioritise and handle multiple complex tasks and projects.
What you’ll get
£54,090.00 - £63,940.00 per annum dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
