About the role

Join us in our Mission to achieve NetZero. If you would like to work at the heart of the UK's Electricity Transmission System and you are passionate about power systems, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact. As part of our Transmission National Control Centre (TNCC), you will join the team responsible for the real-time operation of the national high voltage network. You will play a key role in one of the most significant modernisation programmes in National Grid's history - supporting the transition to renewable energy and strengthening energy security across the UK.

As a Delivery Manager, you will lead teams in a fast-paced control room environment, ensuring safe access to the system and maximising asset capability across England and Wales. You will be accountable for delivering outage plans on time and responding effectively to faults, unplanned events, and major incidents. Overnight, you will take delegated responsibility from the Network Manager for overall Control Room management.

The role is based at our Warwick Control Centre, with the potential to move to our new Hams Hall facility in 2028. You will work on a shift rota - including nights and weekends - with schedules published well in advance to support work-life balance. A shift allowance is paid in addition to base salary.

About You

You will bring experience in power systems or control room operations, with a solid understanding of transmission network management and analytical techniques. Ideally, you have worked as a Control Engineer, within a DNO control room, or hold Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation. However, if you have strong leadership experience and a relevant electrical engineering or power systems qualification - but haven’t previously worked in a control room - we still encourage you to apply. We provide comprehensive training for all control room authorisations.

You will have knowledge of the key plant, protection, and control systems used across the National Grid electricity network, along with a strong grasp of safety requirements, legislation, and associated procedures. You will hold a Level 6 STEM qualification (or equivalent experience), and you will demonstrate proven coaching and people development skills. Calm under pressure, you will combine logical thinking and analytical ability with excellent attention to detail and strong situational awareness.

What’s in it for you?

  • A competitive salary of up to £86,000 plus 26% uplift shift allowance
  • Annual Performance Based Bonus of up to 30%
  • 28 days annual leave plus eight statutory days
  • A Company Car
  • Option to buy/sell holiday days
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a max company contribution of 12%
  • Financial support for study relevant to your role
  • Flexible benefits: share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes
  • Family benefits like back-up care service (six paid days yearly + option to purchase more)
