National Grid is hiring a Reporting Lead - This position is based from our Warwick office however we offer flexible hybrid working options.
Job Purpose
Drive strong, transparent and continuously improving business performance by designing, governing and delivering best‑practice performance management and insight. The role ensures that complex operational and commercial information is transformed into clear, meaningful and timely insight that enables effective decision‑making by the Executive Team and senior stakeholders. Acting as a trusted challenger and connector across the business, the role drives accountability, highlights risks and opportunities, and strengthens performance awareness, while leading the transition from manual reporting to automated, digital and future‑focused insight, including the effective use of emerging technologies and AI.
What You'll Do
- Use a deep understanding of how our business operates and advanced data analytics skills to lead the team’s work to develop Power BI insight that presents information in the most dynamic and meaningful way, ensuring complex information is easily understood and appropriate to the audience to inform decision-making by the ET Executive and other senior stakeholders.
- Drawing on experience of developing dashboards for exec and other audiences, drive the team’s continual improvement and expansion of Power BI performance reporting tools, with an awareness and desire to harness the potential of AI in areas such as forecasting.
- Build and maintain a strong network of performance leads and others across the business and be seen as an SME on performance reporting.
- Continually challenge the wider business on whether they are measuring the right things and collaborate with other teams as a Power BI and performance SME to improve any insight they have developed so that dashboards are insightful and “join the dots” between operational delivery and the wider impacts on performance.
- Lead on the design and management of the NOI performance system so that it is considered to be best practice at driving and supporting the ET Executive performance dialogue and wider performance reporting processes.
- Drive improvement of the performance reporting process so that the time spent on challenge and review is reduced.
- Work with the NOI Cyber Planning & Performance Manager and lead as required on other deliverables for internal and external stakeholders, including C-Suite stakeholders.
- Lead on the development and management of integrated Performance Management System, enabling Exec decision-making and flagging of performance-related risks.
- Play an important role in the preparation of C-Suite reports, for ET Performance Reviews and information.
- Work with the team on the design and development of the Power BI reporting suite, including the use of Power Apps, Snowflake, integration with data warehouses and AI.
- Support the annual planning and target-setting process.
About You
- Understands capital and asset intensive industries, preferably in the regulated space.
- Understands the commercial and regulatory challenges and key external stakeholders in the electricity industry.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
- Advanced data analysis skills with expert level of proficiency in development of Power BI dashboards including writing custom DAX functions, practical experience in Power Apps, Power Platform, Power FX (Power Platform coding language), SQL Querying, Snowflake.
- Experience of working in database systems, including knowledge of data warehousing technologies and tools, such as ETL (extract, transfer, load) tools, SQL databases and data modelling techniques, with the ability to integrate data warehouses with Power BI to reduce the level of manual processing required.
- Experience of stakeholder management and engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and understanding of dashboarding best practice.
Desirable:
- Understanding of performance excellence principles.
- Experience in the use of AI or other tools to, for example, forecast future performance.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £55,000 – £65,000 dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive 26 days holiday, plus eight statutory days, an option to buy extra holiday days, and the option to holiday swap up to 3 bank holiday days. An annual performance incentive. A generous pension scheme, double matched up to 6% of your salary each month. For every £1 you contribute we’ll put in another £2, so if you put in 6%, we’ll add 12% giving a total of 18% to your pension pot. Life insurance at 10 times basic salary. Employer funding towards a portion of your Private Medical Insurance. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
